Defiant offers a system approach to solve difficult sensing problems in the real world. The difference is high-confidence detection in the field where finding target chemicals in the sea of background chemicals is akin to finding the proverbial needle in the haystack.

Defiant's system approach brings the tools of the analytical chemistry lab to the field to provide high-confidence analysis and extremely low false-alarm rates. Like an analytical chemistry lab, we employ sample collection, sample preparation, sample injection, chemical separations, and selective detection. Unlike an analytical chemistry lab our preconcentration stage is selective and sample injection and preparation are all comprised in a single stage. In addition, we place all of this high-performance technology in a self-contained, hand-held, easy to use package.

We use silicon foundry microfabrication to meet the need for manufacturable, robust system solutions that are cost-effective, low power and high performance. We offer a modular approach to packaging our system. This provides the maximum flexibility to address new applications of our customers and allow easy modifications in the field. Defiant is not just another sensor company, we provide a system solution to hand-held sensing in the real world.

We can collect samples, separate them and detect target chemicals all in a hand-held, battery-powered box. We can operate in humid environments, or in environments with high concentrations of diesel or other fuels and particulates (dust, etc).
