Canary-Three™
Micro GC Separations with Smart Sample Collection
Micro GC Separations with Smart Sample Collection
Canary-Three™ is designed to distinguish target analytes from background chemicals and each other for identification and quantitative analysis in two minutes.
The system has an integrated micro gas chromatography column that separates compounds for individual detection by a surface acoustic wave detector (SAW). The system also has a selective micro preconcentrator (collector) that ignores background chemicals during sampling.

Canary-Three™ can be used in the field as a point and analyze instrument, or may be packaged for unmanned uses or emplaced in a sensor network for continuous monitoring.

Canary-Three™
If the ambient concentration of a target analyte is high, Canary-Three™ autonomously determines a short sample collection time. For low concentrations, it will autonomously collect a larger sample volume.
Intelligent sample collection has many benefits. It increases detection range and assures optimal performance at any concentration. It also prevents the system from being overwhelmed by high concentrations. More importantly, the system provides results fastest when concentrations (and dangers) are greatest.
The system features selective chemical collection so that interfering chemicals are ignored, a rapid screening detector for results within seconds, and a micro GC column to separate and uniquely identify target chemicals.

The Canary-Three™ Smart Sampling option employs dual detectors. One for rapid screening, and one coupled with a micro-GC for detailed analysis.

The graph on the left shows the results of collection, separation and detection of five different chemicals simultaneously.
Sarin, DMMP, Soman, Tabun, and Cyclosarin are distinguished from one another in the same two minute cycle.

This data is from the detection of JP-10 in under two minutes by the Canary-Three™ system. JP-10 detection is essential for
worker safety.

The diagram on the left demonstrates Canary-Three™ intelligent collection.
The top trace shows how the system responds to a concentration of 180 ppb. The lower trace shows the system automatically reducing the sample collection time when the concentration
is 10 times higher.
